Dr. Ken Baerenklau’s research focuses on water resource economics and policy, with expertise in environmental and natural resource economics, conservation technology adoption, nonpoint source pollution control, and non-market valuation. He joined the School of Public Policy in 2014, making him one of the founding faculty members. His work also includes serving as an Adjunct Fellow at the Public Policy Institute of California Water Policy Center and on the editorial boards of prominent journals in environmental and resource economics.

In addition to his contributions to research and teaching at the School of Public Policy, Dr. Baerenklau has served as Associate Provost since 2015, helping guide the university's strategic planning, faculty hiring, student success initiatives, campus budgeting, and accreditation efforts. His leadership roles also include previously serving as interim Vice Provost and Dean for Undergraduate Education.
